The BCS Citi National Championship Game was played on January 7, 2010, before millions of viewers on ABC TV, as a capacity crowd saw two undefeated college powerhouses – Texas and Alabama, complete for the national championship. The game featured Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram of Alabama and Maxwell Award winner Colt McCoy of Texas, two of the nation’s most celebrated players. Played at the historic Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, this was the only game ever played on this freshly laid sod. At the conclusion of the game, sections of the field were removed and portioned into 3” x 3” squares, freeze-dried for permanent preservation, and encased in a handsome display case. The case includes a photograph from the game showing the field, a description of the event, and all relevant statistics. Among the sections of sod being made available to fans is this piece from the painted BCS logo at the 50-yard line. The fully assembled display case is 4 ¾” x 4 ¾” x 5 ¼”. An Officially Licensed Product hologram from CLC is included.
